Abstract
This study was carried out to investigate the activity of daily living (ADL) tests used in hemiplegic patients to evaluate appropriateness to the patient, reliability, application time, effectiveness of showing improvement and scoring. Material and McMods: ADL test of Modified Lawton Katz, Barthel and Functional Independence Measurement (FIM) were applied to 16 male, 14 female hemiplegic patient whose average age was 50 years. Patients were asked to practice each of the activities alone and in real living conditions. The difficulties which appeared during the tests were recorded by the physiotherapists. Results: When the independence scores of all tests were compared, the strongest relationship was found between Modified Lawton and Barthel. Katz-Barthel, Katz-FIM and Lawton-FIM respectively in a decreasing order. There was no relationship between Modified Lawton-Katz Conclusion: It was determined that all tests could be used in hemiplegic patients but especially because of showing the functional differences. Modified Lawton was the most sensible one. On the other hand, addition of Barthel's continance items would be benefical
