Abstract
The aim of this study was to compare the effects of a physiotherapy program including physical fitness parameters on children with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA). Material and Methods: Five pauciarticular and nine polyarticular children with JRA were included in the study. Muscular endurance, flexibility balance and speed skill-related parameters were evaluated. Range of motion and general muscle strength of patients were also evaluated and limitations designated. The physiotherapy program was applied one hour every session, for three times a week, for three consecutive months. Physical fitness tests were repeated after the physiotherapy program. Results: No statistical difference was observed on flexibility parameters, prior to and after treatment (p>0.05). Muscle strength, endurance, balance and speed values increased when compared with pre-treatment values (p
