Abstract

While energy consumption was 2x$10^8$ J in 1900s, it reached 3.4x$10^20$ J, multiplying 17 times in 1998. Alternative energy sources were tried in order to meet the increasing need of energy and find solution to the problem of environmental pollution. One of these sources is the Energy Forest. The utilization of this source in the modern sense is rapidly increasing in the developed countries. However, there is no modern energy forestation in its contemporary, scientific and technical dimensions in Turkey. Therefore, the energy forestation or green coal, to use more appropriate term, should be favoured in the modern sense in order to establish the optimal balance between three Es, that is, energy, economy, ecology and the growth of such energy forests should be implemented within a serious plan and consistent policy
