Ölçek 14’ü olumlu, 15’i olumsuz tutumları ölçen toplam 29 maddeden oluşmaktadır. Analiz sonuçları ölçeğin öğrencilerin Sosyal Bilgiler dersine yönelik tutumlarını ölçebilecek geçerli ve güvenilir bir araç olduğunu göstermektedir.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop a valid and reliable scale to measure primary school students’ attitudes toward Social Studies course. The study group included 651 sixth grade primary school students. The scale development process involved scanning related literature, taking expert opinions through intereviews, creating an item pool and a pretesting study. KMO value (.96) and Bartlett’s test (8.990) were measured to determine their suitability for factor analysis and the chi-square value was found to be significant (p=.000). Factor analysis revealed five subscales, namely: liking (α=.87), benefit (α=.88), interest (α=.77), wishing (α=.76), and trust (α=.74). The amount of total variance explained by five factors was 55.95% and factor loadings ranged from .48 to .78. The scale included 29 items, 14 of which measured positive attitudes and 15 of which negative attitudes. The results revealed that the scale was valid and reliable to measure students’ attitudes toward Social Studies course.
