Abstract
Objectives: Our aim in this study is to evaluate the Red cell distrubition width (RDW) levels in individuals with FMF whorefer to our clinic and to investigate their usefulness as a prognostic factor. Methods: Participants of this work, who referred to our policlinics between January 2016 and January 2017, were recruitedthrough the patient database of our hospital. The study included 86 patients. In the FMF group, there were totalof 56 patients (35 females, 21 males), and in the control group, there were 30 patients (19 females and 11 males). Therewere no clinical interventions. Blood RDW measurements were determined in both fmf and control groups. Results: We didn’t reach any statistical importance between healthy individuals and patients with heterozygous andhomozygous FMF.Conclusion: In our work, we didn’t consider rdw as a useful marker between groups which have different mutations.
