Abstract
Problem Statement: People, who have active roles in today’s information societies, require communication effectively with achieving problem solving strategies. Therefore, to improve creative thinking, problem solving and language skills of the students, cooperative learning methods are frequently used at all education levels. Purpose of the Study: In this research, among the cooperative learning methods, group investigation (GI), the Jigsaw II technique (JT) and traditional instruction method (TI) were comparatively examined in terms of students’ success, and one which is more effective than others has been tried to be determine. Methods: The sample of the study consisted of 71 students in 10th grade. In this research, the knowledge of the students about the topic was measured by “Nervous System Success Test”, developed by the researchers. In the class which is taught by JT, first of all 6 groups consisting of 4 people were formed and Nervous System Unit was given as homework assignment to each group. After reading the entire chapter, each student in the group determined a topic to specialize in. The students who would specialize in the same topic in the different groups came to gather to discuss their topics. After the students in the specialization groups completed their learning, they returned to their groups and taught the topic to their group members. In the class which is taught by GI, 5 groups consisting of 5 people were formed. The chapter was divided into 5 parts and each part was assigned to each group as homework. The group members shared the subject among themselves and did their personal homework. Each group presented their findings and results to entire class. In the other class, the subject was taught by the TI. Findings/Results: Although there is no significant difference (p>0.05) regarding pre-test results, the results of the post-test exhibited that there is a significant difference among three groups, which is in favor of the GI group (p
