Abstract
Flotation process is a beneficiation method that takes advantage of the differences in the wettability properties of the particles. Besides the properties of medium, the physical properties of particles should be considered for increasing its efficiency. In this context, the analysis of particle morphology is very important in terms of revealing particleparticle interactions as well as bubble-particle interactions. In this study, besides the flotation characteristics of glass beads with different morphological properties, the changes in bubble-particle attachment times were investigated. As a result, higher flotation efficiencies were obtained in parallel with lower bubble-particle attachment times at increasing roughness within the experiments for investigating the effect of only roughness values. However lower flotation efficiencies were obtained upon increasing roughness values in parallel with higher bubble-particle attachment times within the experiments for evaluating the effects of both roughness and angularity. These results shed light on the fact that flotation recoveries can be increased by controlling particle production methods.
