Abstract

In this study, we analyzed the average daily data from the monthly data of the Dodurga dam which supplies water for Eskişehir and which is used for irrigation in Eskişehir between the time period of January 1981 and November 2005 by using Box-Jenkins technique. After the data are purified from seasonality, Auto-Regressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA (1,1,1)) model was determined as the fitting model for the data. By using ARIMA (1,1,1) model, daily average water amount series of Dodurga dam during the December 2005 and November 2006 period were estimated. Maximum water storage capacity of Dodurga dam is 19,210,000 m3. According to the forecast results of this work, incoming water amount will approach to the dam’s capacity only in March 2006. In the other months, the water amount of the dam will be at low levels. This situation emphasizes that the incoming water amount to Dodurga dam will decrease because of the reasons such as climate effects and geographical conditions.
