Özet
Osmanlı İmparatorluğu'ndaki Ermeni nüfusu her daim tartışma konusu olmuştur. Günümüzde de devam eden bu tartışmalar, özellikle tehcir öncesi ve sonrası Ermeni nüfusunun ne olduğu noktasında yoğunlaşmaktadır. Bu göz önünde bulundurulduğunda, ilk aşamada tehcir öncesindeki Osmanlı Ermenileri nüfusu ve bu döneme ait Osmanlı'daki nüfus çalışmalarının mahiyetinin belirlenmesi gerekmektedir. Bu gereklilik nedeniyle çalışmamızda, Osmanlı nüfus araştırmalarının geçmişi ve tehcir öncesinde İmparatorlukta var olan Ermeni nüfusunun ne olduğu incelenmiştir
Abstract
The Armenian population of the Ottoman Empire has always been a debatable issue. These discussions which also continue today, especially focus on what the Armenian population has been before and after the relocation. Taking this into consideration, the first step would be to determine the Armenian population before the relocation and the outcome of the population researches carried out during the Ottoman period. As a result, the following article deals with the history of Ottoman population researches and what the Armenian population has been in the Empire before the relocation.
