Post systems in prosthetic dentistry

Özet

Endodontik tedavi görmüş ve aşırı koronal diş dokusu kaybına uğramış dişlerin protetik tedavisinde geçmiştengünümüze farklı post-kor sistemleri kullanılmıştır. Eskiden sadece metal post sistemleri kullanılırken, estetikbeklentilerin artması ve adeziv diş hekimliğinde meydana gelen gelişmelerden dolayı üretici firmalar yenimateryal arayışına girmişlerdir, sonucunda seramik ve fiberle güçlendirilmiş kompozit post sistemlerinigeliştirmişlerdir. Her post sisteminin avantajları ve dezavantajları bulunmaktadır. Restorasyonun başarısı veyabaşarısızlığı postların özelliklerinin bilinmesiyle doğrudan ilişkilidir. Dentine benzer fiziksel özelliklertaşıması, çevre dokular ve protetik restorasyonlarla uyumlu olması, dişte minimal strese neden olması veuygulamasının kolay olması post sistemlerinde aranan en önemli özelliklerdir. Bu derlemenin amacı; postsistemlerini değerlendirmek ve gelecekteki yerini incelemektir.

Abstract

Different post-core systems were used to prosthodontic treatments for teeth, which were endodonticallytreated or had excessive loss of coronal tooth structures, from past to present. In the past, when only metalpost systems were used, but because of rising aesthetic expectations and developing of adhesive dentistry,manufacturers have tried to find new materials, finally ceramic and fiber reinforced composite post systemshave been developed. Each post system has its advantages and disadvantages. The success or failure ofrestoration is directly related to knowing the characteristics of the post. The most significan t features of postsystems are having similar physical properties to dentin, being compatible with the surrounding tissue andprosthetic restoration, causing minimal stress on teeth and being easy to practice. Aim of this review is toevaluate the post sys tems and examine the place of the future .
