Özet
Haziran direnişi, İstanbul Taksim Gezi parkı için yapılan kentsel gelişim planına itiraz olarak 28 Mayıs 2013 tarihinde başlamıştır. İstanbul’da başlayan protestolar, hızla diğer illere de yayılmıştır. Bu illerden biri de Kocaeli’dir. Kocaeli hem İstanbul’a yakınlığı hem de eylemci profili açısından eylemlerin yoğun yaşandığı yerlerden biri olmuştur. Bu makalede, gezi direnişi boyunca Kocaeli ilinde gerçekleşen eylemlerin toplumsal tabanı tartışılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada 380 kişiye anket uygulanmıştır. Anket sonuçlarından elde edilen veriler eylemin merkezi olan İstanbul’da yapılan anket sonuçları ile bir yandan benzerlik göstermiş, bir yandan da Kocaeli’ye özgü özellikler ortaya çıkarmıştır.
Abstract
The June Resistance started on 28 May 2013 as an upheaval against the urban development plan which was prepared for the İstanbul Taksim Gezi Park. The protests which broke out in Istanbul rapidly spread to other provinces, one of which was Kocaeli. Because of its proximity to İstanbul and its activist profile, Kocaeli became one of the places where protests wereconsiderably intense. In this paper, the social basis of the protests which took place in Kocaeli during the Gezi Resistance is discussed. 380 people were surveyed in this study. The data fromthe survey was similar to those from the surveys conducted in Istanbul, the epicenter of the protests, but they exhibited various idiosyncrasies specific to Kocaeli as well.
