Etik karar verme ve cinsiyet farklılıkları üzerine bir araştırma

Özet

Bu çalışma, gelecekte turizm sektöründe aktif rol oynayacağı düşünülen turizm bölümüöğrencilerinin etik karar verme süreçlerinin hangi faktörlerden etkilendiğini belirlemeyi ve öğrencilerinyaşamlarında karşılaşabilecekleri durumlara ilişkin etik değerlendirmelerinin cinsiyete göre farklılıkyaratıp yaratmadığını ortaya koymayı amaçlamaktadır. Belirtilen amaç doğrultusunda 10 farklı senaryokullanılmıştır. Öğrencilerden senaryolardaki eylemleri etik/etik değil/etikle ilgili bir problem değilşeklinde değerlendirmeleri ve eğer belirtilen pozisyonda kendileri olsalardı nasıl bir davranışgöstereceklerini ifade etmeleri istenmiştir. Sonuçlar aile, din, sektör tecrübesi gibi faktörlerin etik kararverme üzerinde etkili olduğunu göstermiştir. Ayrıca, cinsiyetin etik karar verme davranışı üzerindeönemli derecede farklılık yaratmadığı ortaya konmuştur.

Abstract

This study intends to determine which factors influence the ethical decision-makingprocess of tourism students who are thought to play active roles in tourism sector in the future, andwhether ethical assessments of students relevant to the situations that they can come accross during theirlives creates a difference with regards to gender. Toward this purpose, ten scenarios were used and thestudents were asked to evaluate the scenarios and indicate if the actions were ethical, unethical or not aquestion of ethics, and to indicate what they would do if they were in this situation. At the conclusionof the research, the results showed that factors such as family, religion, work experience are have stronginfluence on ethical beliefs. Besides, it is found that the gender does not create a significant differenceon ethical decision making behaviour.
