Abstract

In this study horse chestnut's husk was used as a material. Husks of horse chestnut was taken as 100 % ratio according to the weight of wool yarn. When husks of horse chestnut was extracted in cold water for 24 hours, it's called as cold extract. When it's boiled with water for 1 hour, it's called as hot extract. Firstly woll yarns were-mordanted by 10 different mordants. 3 percent mordants were used according to the weight of wool yarns. Then, they were processed with extracted horse chestnut's husks again for one hour. Wool yarns were dyed by extracted horse chestnut's husk without mordants. In the end, forty different wool yarns were dyed with mordants and without mordants by extracted horse chestnut's husk. Wool yarns colors were evaluated by objective (With colorimeter) and subjective methods. Fourteen different colors and their tons were obtained from dying process Light, abrasion and water spotting fastnesses tests were applied on these wool yarns colors. According to these tşsts, light effect was found as 3 to 6, abrasion effect was found as 2 to 4-5 and water spotting effect was found as 3 to 5.
