Hacimce değişik oranlarda lifler içeren harç çubukları ASTM C1260'a uygun olarak hazırlanmıştır. Barlar alkali hidroksit çözeltisi içinde saklanmış ve boy değişimleri 30 gün boyunca kaydedilmiştir. Sonuçlar çelik lifin, çatlamaya bağlı genleşmeyi önlerken her iki polipropilen lifin genleşmeyi önleyemediğini göstermiştir.
Abstract
Alkali-silica reaction is a chemical deterioration process that takes place betvveen concrete alkalis and siliceous aggregates. The reaction results in severe cracking of concrete causing structural and durability problems. in this study, one type of steel fiber and two types of polypropylene fibers were used to prevent the cracking caused by alkali-silica reaction. Mortar bars, into vvhich fibers were introduced at varying amounts as mortar volume, were cast in accordance with ASTM C1260. The bars were stored in alkali hydroxide solution and length changes were recorded up to 30 days. The results have shown that steel fibers reduced expansion whereas polypropylene fibers did not.
