Abstract

In this study with assesment of literature, we presented a case in our clinic for extraadrenal retroperitoneal pheoch¬romocytoma. The disease is seen frequently in the second decade and more common in males. Its biochemical diag¬nosis is done like adrenal pheochromocytomas. CT, MIBG (iodine-131 metaiodobenzylguanidine) and arteri-ography can be used for detection of localisation. It has a high potential for malignancy, but malignancy is detected only if metastases are present. Its only curative treatment is complete surgical excision. It has good prognosis, me¬tastases can be found year after excision. Five years survi-vance is about % 75 in malign cases.
