Abstract
The use of educational and digital games in the education of prospective teachers is of vital importance since it demonstrates that technological developments can be used in the milieu of education and training. The aim of this study is to introduce one of the mathematical concepts, the Euclid Division (Long Division), through a designated educational mobile game. In the design of the mobile game, which was developed by the researchers, one of the basic components of the Theory of Didactical Situations (TDS), the adidactical situations were used. The qualitative research method was used in the study. The designed game was initially applied to 3 prospective teacher students (3rd grade), and subsequently, it was applied to 12 prospective teachers (8 females and 4 males) in the classroom environment (for 73 minutes), thus the pilot study was completed. The participants of the study was comprised of 14 individuals (6 females and 8 males), who are prospective primary school teachers attending at a state university. The main application took 67 minutes. The data were collected through the video-camera and voice recorder. The analysis of the data was conducted in line with the stages of the TDS. The results of the analysis demonstrated that a milieu can be created, in which the prospective primary school teachers can learn one of the mathematical notions, the Euclid Division, through a mobile game designed in the framework of the TDS. The fact that mathematical notions can be taught to the prospective teachers through an educational mobile game has a vital role in bringing a new perspective to the education field concerning how to use technological instruments in the classroom environment.
