Abstract
In this study, Hyparrhenia hirta (L.) Stapf was examined anatomically which is monotypic species in Turkey. Plant specimens for the study were collected from Manisa Muradiye District in 2013. The fresh sample of the plant were fixed in 70% ethanol until being used in anatomical studies. Other plant parts were dried to prepare herbarium specimens. Cross-sections of root, stem and leaf were taken and photographed with Leica DM 3000 microscope. Anatomical measurements were performed with ocular micrometer and minimum, maximum, and average values and standard deviations were given in the tables. Findings were compared with several Poaceae species. In anatomical studies it has been determined that the thickenings were clear on the walls of endodermal cells of the root. These types of endodermal cells are common in the roots of Monocotyledons. As results of this study, the cross-section of root with 4-sided thickened endodermis; cortex parenchyma in the form of panicoid; the cross section of stem with sclerenchyma in the form of cup shape which is located on both side of epidermis under the vascular bundle toward to cortex; the triangle shaped main in the cross section of leaf vein and the bulliform cells were observed for H. Hirta. These features have been interpreted as the characteristic features of the anatomical structure for the Poaceae family
