Özet

ÖZET. Uludağ Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Göğüs Hastalıkları ve Tüberküloz Anabilim Dalı'nda 29.12.1992 tarihinde kurulan "Sigarayı Bıraktırma Polikliniği"ne 1994 yılında, 87 olgu başvurdu. Bu olguların 46'sını erkekler, 41 'ini kadınlar oluşturmaktaydı. Olguların sigara anamnezleri alındıktan sonra sistemik sorgulama, fizik muayene, laboratuar, radyolojik tetkikleri ve solunum fonksiyon testleri yapıldı ve her birey için sigarayı bıraktırma yöntemleri kendileri ile tartışıldı. Sigarayı bıraktırma metodu olarak klinisyen danışmanlığında sigarayı birden kesme yöntemi ve semptomlara yönelik tedavi uygulandı. Bu çalışmamızda daha önce birinci yıl sonuçlarını yayınladığımız polikliniğimizin*, ikinci yılında polikliniğe başvuran 87 olgunun özellikleri, sigarayı bırakmayı deneme (% 66) ve bir yıl bırakmış kalma (% 40) oranları sunuldu.

Abstract

SUMMARY. As all physician we were avare of the role of smoking in etiology of chronic and fatal diseases and as we believed the role of physician to warn and educate patients about hazardous effects of smoking, we established Smoking Cessation Clinic (S.C.C) at 29lh December1992 in Uludağ University Medical Faculty Chest Diseases and Tuberculosis Department. In the year of 1994, 87 smoker (46 male, 41 female) were consulted in the clinic. After evaluating smoking history, all the smoker's physically examined, routine blood test, chest x-ray films and lung function tests were performed and best smoking cessation method for the subjects were discussed with them. Physician advice and counselling, abrupt cessation of smoking and treatment of nicotine withdrawal symptoms were the smoking cessation methods applied in our clinic. Among 87 smoker consulted in our SCC, 66% of them tried to stop smoking, but one year maintained quitting rate of those smokers was only 40%. In this study, we report the characteristics and smoking cessation rates of smokers consulted in our SCC during 1994.
