Abstract
Objective: Subclinical hypothyroidism (SHT) may be associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. The relationship between TSH level and the left (LV) and right ventricular (RV) systolic and diastolic parameters have not been previously evaluated in patients with SHT. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the association between the TSH level and the LV and RV systolic and diastolic parameters in patients with SHT.Method: 32 healthy subjects and 64 patients diagnosed with SHT were included in the study. Patients were divided into 2 groups according to TSH level: patients with low increased TSH level SHT ( 4.5-10 mU/l) and patients with high increased TSH level SHT (>10mU/l ). The results of the patients were compared to those of the controls. Results: In the high increased TSH SHT patients, LV and RV systolic and diastolic function were significantly impaired. In the low increased TSH SHT patients, LV diastolic function was significantly impaired. TSH level were found to be well correlated with Sm (r=-0,58,p
