Effect of silanization time on the surface modification of anhydrous borax

Abstract
The silanization process to alter the surface properties of anhydrous boraxpowders was investigated using an organosilane of 3-(Trimethoxysilyl) propylmethacrylate. Silanization treatments were carried out in anhydrous toluene atconstant reaction temperature and silane loading. For optimizing the surfacecoating in the silanization processes, different processing periods (1, 6, 12, and24 hours) were attempted. The surface-treated powders were characterized bysolubility and wettability tests.
