Economic Ideas By Imam Shafi'i

Abstract

The research aims to clear the most important economic ideas by Imam Shafi’i, which manifested itself through talking about the property, he recalled private property and identified its sources from earnings, donations and inheritance, and also talked about the public property indicating its sources of endowment, tribute, and share of Prophet peace be upon him, from Booty and spoils. He pointed to the moral and material means to protect the property; as godliness to earn money and spend it, prohibition of abuse of funds, prohibition of consuming people’s wealth unlawfully, and documentation of the debt in writing, approval and certification and warranty and cession.Imam Shafii I also talked about economic freedom in the Islamic economic system, he recalled many images to restrict economic freedom; such as the prohibition of usury, monopoly, and prohibited sales.Then he talked about the supply and demand theory landmarks, where he showed the relationship between abundance and scarcity item, and the severity desire of the consumer in the acquisition or not. Then he mentioned the most important factors affecting it; such as the prohibition of bidding up merchandise, monopoly, and urbanite’s sale for Nomadic.Imam Shafii also talked about some of the important topics in the field of public finance, he talked about Imam’s borrowing from people of the funds for public interest, he permitted with condition of need for this borrowing, and then talked about the Imam lending public funds to the people, where he forbid it, because it miss the money benefit of this confinement for all Muslims. Imam Shafii I also pointed out some of the principles in the public finances; as a principle the allocation of expenses and prevent double taxation
