Abstract

The electrocoagulation process is used as a very effective process for removal of color from the waters and in particular for the removal of textile dyes. The ease of operation of the process parameters is one of the advantages of the process. These parameters are parameters such as current density, mixing speed, pH, conductivity, electrolysis time and distance between electrodes. In this study, the effect of the distance between the electrodes and the change in the difference of the potential difference on the color removal efficiency was investigated. The reactor configurations with 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, and 70 mm electrodes distance were applied to the dye solution with a concentration of 100 mg / L for 15 minutes at different intensities. According to the results of the study, the dissolution of aluminum ions and the formed aluminum hydroxyl flocks are effective in removing the paint from the water. While the effect of the distance between the electrodes on the color removal is limited, the effect on the potential difference change is quite large and the effect of this situation on the energy expenditure is very large. In general, the distance between high electrodes is negatively reflected in the cost of treatment.
