Abstract

Nowadays Heat Recovery Units have 2 classes regarding their recovered energy type. The first type units are sensible heat recovery devices and the second type units are total heat (sensible and latent heat) recovery devices. Heat Recovery Units (HRUs) are commonly used as a productive component in air conditioning systems. In air conditioning systems HRUs in cold weather provide fresh air with preheating, in warm weather they provide fresh air with precooling. HRUs can be classified as plate type, rotary type and two battery type. These types are used in different areas and have different thermal efficiency and pressure losses. In our subject we will investigate two different geometry plate type sensible HRUs which are crossflow and counterflow, experimentally. The first result of this study is expected to benefit mechanical engineers about deciding the thermal efficiency of crossflow heat exchanger air conditioning plants in different ventilator and aspirator flow rates and room and environment temperatures. The second result of this study is expected to benefit mechanical engineers about deciding in which climate crossflow and in which climate counterflow heat exchanger sensible HRU to be used by comparing the recovered heat and electricity consumption of ventilator and aspirator in HRU
