Abstract

wind energy has been considered to be one of the main participants in supplying global energy needs. The cost of energy metric accounts for the effect of reliability through levelized replacement cost and unscheduled maintenance cost parameters .In this paper, an analysis of the performance, failure and reliability, focusing on a spare parts analysis have been conducted for a wind turbine. reliability effort is to facilitate design improvements and improve operations and reduce maintenance costs, thus reducing financial and technical risks. significant uncertainty exists in the field of wind farm operation and maintenance (O&M) in developing countries. In order to investigate this uncertainty as well as explore the feasibility of novel O&M strategies, simulation is conducted. Monte Carlo Markov Chain method is applied in order to arrive to an optimal strategy of maintenance in a country where spare parts are a major problem for the reliability and availability of wind turbines; that is availability of energy
