II Constıtutıonal Monarchy period’s educator Mr. Satı and teaching of geography

Özet

Bu çalışmada; II. Meşrutiyet dönemi ünlü eğitimcisi Satı Bey’in hayatı, eğitim hizmetleri, Osmanlı Devleti’nde Coğrafya eğitiminin gelişimi ve Satı Bey’in Coğrafya öğretimi konusundaki düşünceleri incelenmeye çalışıldı. Osmanlı Devleti’nde 1869 Maarif-i Umumiye Nizamnamesi ile esaslı olarak resmi ders programlarına giren Coğrafya dersi bu dönemde isim ve niteleme coğrafyası safhasını aşamamıştır. Modern İzahlı Coğrafya Eğitimi ise II. Meşrutiyetle birliktedir. II. Meşrutiyet dönemi ünlü eğitimcisi Satı Bey, “Coğrafya Nasıl Tedris Olunmalı?”(Coğrafya Nasıl Öğretilmeli?) isimli makalesinde Coğrafya eğitiminde günümüzde de geçerli olan öğretim usulleri öne sürmekte.

Abstract

İn this research, second constıtutıonal monarchy period’s famous educator Mr. Satı’s life, his contribution to education, development of the education of geography in Otoman Empire and his thoughts about teaching of geography are studied. Geography lesson which is participated to offical school timetables essentially with Maarif-i Umumiye Nizamnamesi (1869) in Otoman Empire couldn’t go beyond the stage of naming and descriptive geography. Education of modern and explanatory geography took place with second contsıtutıonal monarchy.Second constıtutıonal monarchy period’s famous educator Mr. Satı suggested some teaching methods in his article, which are also valid nowadays, named “ How should be geography taught?”
