Özet

Bu araştırmanın amacı; sekizinci sınıf öğrencilerinin okuduğunu anlama düzeyi, okumaya ilişkin tutum, cinsiyet, anne eğitim durumu, baba eğitim durumu, günlük okumaya ayrılan süre, bir yılda okunan kitap sayısı, sosyal medya araçlarını günlük kullanım süresi, günlük televizyon izleme süresi, evde okumaya elverişli bir ortam olup olmaması, evde tablet, bilgisayar vb. olup olmaması, evde İnternet bağlantısının olup olmaması, kendisine ait cep telefonu olup olmaması, süreli yayın takip edip etmeme değişkenlerinin öğrencilerin eleştirel düşünme eğilimlerini ne oranda yordadığını belirlemektir. İlişkisel tarama modeli kullanılan araştırmanın örneklemi, 2018-2019 eğitim-öğretim yılında Sivas İli Merkez ilçesindeki ortaokullarda öğrenim gören 521 sekizinci sınıf öğrencisinden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmada veriler Demircioğlu (2012) tarafından Türkçeye uyarlanan “Eleştirel Düşünme Eğilimi Ölçeği”, Çakıroğlu ve Palancı (2015) tarafından Türkçeye uyarlanan “Okuma Tutum Ölçeği” ve araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen “Okuduğunu Anlamaya Yönelik Başarı Testi” ile “Kişisel Bilgi Formu” aracılığıyla toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde, betimsel istatistikler ve hiyerarşik çoklu doğrusal regresyon analizinden yararlanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda; yordayıcı değişkenlerin önem sırasının “Öngörüsellik” bağımlı değişkeni için okumaya ilişkin tutum, cinsiyet, okuduğunu anlama düzeyi ve süreli yayınları takip edip etmeme; “Bilişsel olgunluk” bağımlı değişkeni için okumaya ilişkin tutum ve okuduğunu anlama düzeyi, “Yenilikçilik” bağımlı değişkeni için okumaya ilişkin tutum, süreli yayınları takip edip etmeme ve cinsiyet; “Eleştirel Düşünme Eğilimi” bağımlı değişkeni için okumaya ilişkin tutum, süreli yayınları takip edip etmeme, cinsiyet ve okuduğunu anlama düzeyi şeklinde sıralandığı belirlenmiştir.

Abstract

The purpose of the this study is to identify to what extent the variables of reading comprehension level, attitude towards reading, gender, mother’s education level, father’s education level, daily time spent on reading, number of books read in a year, daily time spent on social media use, daily time spent on watching TV, the presence/absence of a suitable domestic environment for reading, the presence/absence of technological devices such as tablets and computers, accessibility to the Internet at home, the state of possessing a mobile phone of one's own, and habit of following periodicals predict critical thinking dispositions of 8th grade students. A correlational survey model was used in the research. The sample of the research consists of 521 8th grade students studying in secondary schools in the city center of Sivas in the 2018-2019 academic year. In the research, the data were collected through “Critical Thinking Disposition Scale” adapted to Turkish by Demircioğlu (2012), “Reading Attitude Scale” adapted to Turkish by Çakıroğlu and Palancı (2015), and “Reading Comprehension Test” and “Personal Information Form” developed by the researchers. In the analysis of the data, descriptive statistics and hierarchical multiple linear regression analysis were used. As a result of the research; for the dependent variable “Predictiveness”, predictor variables follow the order of importance as attitude towards reading, gender, reading comprehension level and the state of following periodicals; for the dependent variable “Cognitive Maturity”, predictor variables follow the order of importance as attitude towards reading and reading comprehension level; for the dependent variable “Innovativeness” predictor variables follow the order of importance as attitude towards reading, the state of following periodicals and gender; for the dependent variable “Critical Thinking Disposition”, predictor variables follow the order of importance as attitude towards reading, the state of following periodicals, gender and reading comprehension level.
