Abstract
The purpose of the study is to critically examine political realism which is traced back to Machiavellian approaches of disconnecting politics from morality and to evlauate the possibility of if and how the historical Ahilik tradition could fill the void. It is evident that the lack morally based practices in politics produced problems and burdens which could carried anymore by the political systems. The post-modern paradigm which deeply affected the modern paradigm too left aside the issue of the relationship politics and morality. As opposed to the radical utopian solutions to the problem of political amorality, Ahilik seems more promising for developing plausible and applicable alternatives. This study focuses on the practices of the Ottoman Empire which represents the pinnacle of Ahilik system. Within this frame work, these issues are addressed with regard to “the structure of the political system” and “political power elites.”
