Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of listening to music on some values of the patients, satisfaction and success of the procedure of patients undergoing an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. The sample was comprised of 100 experimental, 100 controll that have applied 200 patients to the Endoscopy unit between February–April 2005. Data were collected through questionnaire including items related to the demographic characteristics and about procedure. Data were analyzed using frequency technique in SPSS program. Chi–square, independent samples T test were used in the analysisAccording to the results of the study, it was determined that the music had no effect on pulse, blood pressure, oxygen saturation values of the patients in the experimental group. But it had statistically meaningful effects to all parameters which include patient’s satisfaction in the experimental group (p
