Özet
Bu çalışma, Pamukkale Üniversitesi Hastanesi’nde çalışan klinik hemşirelerin stresle baş etmede kullandıkları yöntemleri belirlemek amacıyla tanımlayıcı olarak planlanmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini, Mart-Mayıs 2005 tarihleri arasında kliniklerde çalışan 154 hemşire oluşturmuştur. Örneklem seçimine gidilmeyerek bu tarihlerde çalışan ve çalışmaya katılmayı kabul eden 85 hemşire araştırmaya dahil edilmiştir. Veriler, Hemşireleri Tanıtıcı Bilgi Formu ve Rosenbaum’un Öğrenilmiş Güçlülük Ölçeği (RÖGÖ) ile toplanmış; ortalama, standart sapma, sayı, yüzdelik hesaplamaları, t testi ve Kruskal Wallis testi kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma grubundaki hemşirelerin %63.5’i evli, % 45.9’unun çocuğu yok, %20’si sağlık lisesi mezunu ve %48.2’si 5-8 yıl arası süredir çalışmaktadır.
Abstract
Determination of Strategies for Coping with Stress Used by Nurses Who Work at Pamukkale University HospitalThis descriptive study was planned for the purpose of determining the methods for coping with stress used by nurses who work at Pamukkale University Hospital. The research population was the 154 nurses who worked on the hospital wards between March and May 2005. Without using a sampling method the 85 nurses who worked during this time period and who agreed to participate were included in the research. The data were collected on a Nurses' Descriptive Information Form and Rosenbaum's Learned Strength Inventory and mean, standard deviation, number, percentage, t test and Kruskal Wallis test were used for analysis of the data.In the research group 63.5% of the nurses were married, 45.9% did not have any children, 20% were high school graduates and 48.2% had worked 5-8 years. The nurses' Rosenbaum scale score mean was 122.97±18.17. This result shows an above average score and that the nurses use strategies for coping with stress. There was no statistically signifycant difference between the status of the nurses' using stress coping strategies and their marital status, status of having children, educational status, number of years working and number of night/weekend shifts worked (p>0.05). However the mean scores for the nurses who were married and had children were slightly higher than the other groups. Also those who were high school graduates had worked for less than one year and who worked 1-4 night/weekend shifts used stress coping strategies better, and the intensive care unit and operating room nurses did not use coping strategies adequately.
