Abstract
A radicular cyst is a cyst which arises from the epithelial residues in the periodontal ligament as a result of inflammation, usually following death of the pulp. With incomplete removal of radicular or periapical cystic ephitelium, a residual cyst may develop from months to years after the initial treatment. Bone grafting of cystic jaw lesions is able to enhance osteogenesis and maintain the desired shape of the bone ultimately formed. Utilization of autogenous bone is associated with increased morbidity, whereas allogeneic or synthetic bone is quite expensive. Enucleation alone as suggested by the authors might be a reasonable choice... The purpose of this article is to present a large mandibular cyst case and discuss with previous cases in the literature.
