Özet
Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, Yüzüncü Yıl Üniversitesi Tıp ve Diş Hekimliği Fakültesi birinci sınıf öğrencilerinin öğrenme incelenmesidir. Bireyler ve Yöntem: İlişkisel tarama modelindeki bu araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 45'i Tıp, 45'i ise Diş Hekimliği Fakültesi'nde öğrenim gören toplam 90 birinci sınıf öğrencisi oluşturdu. Araştırmanın verileri "Kolb Öğrenme Stilleri Envanteri" aracılığıyla toplandı. Bulgular: Çalışmaya dâhil edilen öğrencilerin öğrenme stillerinin dağılımı incelendiğinde; Tıp Fakültesi birinci sınıf öğrencilerinin %44,4'ünün Özümseyen, %31,1'inin Ayrıştıran, %15,6'sının Değiştiren ve %8,9'unun Yerleştiren grupta olduğu gözlenirken, Diş Hekimliği Fakültesi birinci sınıf öğrencilerinin ise %57,8'inin Özümseyen, %20'sinin Ayrıştıran, %20'sinin Değiştiren ve %2,2'sinin Yerleştiren grupta yer aldığı görüldü. Öğrenme stillerinin dağılımında her iki fakülte öğrencileri benzer oranlara sahip oldukları, ayrıca gruplar arasında cinsiyet bakımından istatistiksel bir farklılık olmadığı belirlendi. Sonuç: Bu çalışmanın sonuçlarına göre Tıp ve Diş Hekimliği Fakültelerindeki birinci sınıf öğrencileri benzer öğrenme stillerine sahiptir ve tercih edilen öğrenme stili cinsiyet faktöründen etkilenmemektedir. Hem teorik ve pratik eğitimin yoğun hem de ilk yıllarda aldıkları bazı derslerin benzer olduğu her iki grupta yer alan öğrencilerin öğrenme stillerine göre uygulanacak eğitim programları daha yararlı olacaktır.
Abstract
Aim: The aim of this study was to comparatively investigate the learning styles of first-year students at Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Dentistry, University of Yüzüncü Yıl. Subjects and Methods: In this relational model research, the sample comprised 45 students from the Faculty of Medicine and 45 students from the Faculty of Dentistry for a total of 90 first-year students. The data of this study was collected by "Kolb Learning Style Inventory". Results: When we examine the distribution of learning styles of the students included in this study, it was observed 44.4%, 31.1%, 15.6%, and 8.9% among the first-class students of the Faculty of Medicine while it was 57.8%, 20%, 20%, and 2.2% among the first-class students of Faculty of Dentistry for Accommodators groups, respectively. The distribution of learning styles of students had similar proportions both in two faculties. Also, no statistically significant difference was observed between the two groups in terms of gender. Conclusion: According to the results of this study, first-year students of the Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry have similar learning styles and the preferred learning style is not be affected by gender factors. Training programs based on students' learning styles will be more useful for two groups in those there are intensive theoretical and practical training as well as some similar courses in the first year.
