Abstract

Most of the current all-ceramic restorations are composed of monolithic yttria-stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystal (Y-TZP) ceramics, which exhibits superior mechanical properties compared with other ceramics. Monolithic zirconia is a biocompatible material that is not cytotoxic and has low bacterial adhesion. Prosthetic rehabilitation using monolithic zirconia may help to prevent complications associated with bilayered ceramics systems. Monolithic zirconia fixed partial dentures represent an alternative option to zirconia based or metal ceramic restorations. Moreover, the use of monolithic zirconia becomes popular for anterior teeth due to their translucent property. This clinical report describes the use of a monolithic ceramic restoration. Good esthetic and functional results were achieved with no complications reported after 12 months.
