Abstract
The most important event in Turkish and world history is, without doubt, the First World War. The front that shifted the course of this war was Çanakkale. Belligerent parties of the War, especially Britain and its Allies, possess a high number of publications on the events in this front. However, in Turkey such publications on the Çanakkale front are few if any. What we have is the recounts of some copyrighted works and memoirs written in the immediate aftermath of the battles. Even if a few new memoirs have been released in 2015, which marks the 100th anniversary of the Çanakkale Battles, they fall short of detailing the war thoroughly. Therefore, the letters written by 1st Lt. Abdurrahman Sabri Effendi's, who fell martyr at the Çanakkale front, to his wife are of great significance in that they reveal the troubles at the front and within the society. The examples of such documents are quite rare
