Abstract
The comfort of urban areas not only enhances visual quality but also ensures the sustainability of social life. Therefore, the hypothesis “parameters such as image and comfort should be considered in determining the future strategies of cities in planning and design processes” constitutes the general framework of the study. In this context, developing a spatial design approach that is interesting, safe and offers diversity for the user group in terms of environmental image and urban aesthetics is aimed in this study. For this purpose, 100. Yıl Avenue, which is used extensively in Muratlı district of Tekirdağ, including the historical railway station was examined in terms of its environmental image and aesthetics. Within the scope of the aim, structured environmental analyses (occupancy-gap analysis, urban reinforcement analysis, floor analysis, building material analysis, transportation analysis, focal points analysis) were carried out within the framework of literature information and field observations, and SWOT analysis was performed to determine the current situation. Spatial design decisions regarding the findings obtained from the analyses were developed.
