Abstract
The changing perception proceeding from the modernism/postmodernism debatehas brought up the relationship between art and politics. The modernist thesisabout that art should be freed from politics, firstly, has been weakened by FrankfurtSchool's view that the borderline between art and politics had been undeterminedand inspired postmodern interpretations. As a requirement of neoliberal politics ofeconomy in 1980's, the distinctive role of the states on cultural field has beensignificantly transmitted to private corporations. So, world of business has raised itslot of politic power. The relation on art and politics has been ambigously elaboratedby both interactions of the subjects on these spheres and more endogenous issuessuch as styles, genres, and movements. This work studies these changingperceptions in the context of art's engagement to politics and features someexemplifications from world's and Turkey's art scenes.
