Özet

Mimarlık tarihimizin üzerinde yeterince durulmamış konularından biri göçerlikten yerleşikliğe geçişin aşama ve usulleri ise, bir ötekisi de fethedilen topraklarda varolan sosyal, iktisadi ve kültürel düzeneklerin nasıl dönüştürüldüğüdür. Akdeniz'in kozmopolit birikiminin Anadolu'nun yüklü geçmişiyle düğümlendiği bir noktada kurulan Menteşe Beyliği'nin kısa ancak anlamlı varoluş serüveni bu sorulara -yetersiz olsalar da- bazı somut yanıtlar getirir.

Abstract

Little is known of the modalities which marked the transformation of nomads into settled communities, nor do we know with certainty the phases of appropriation and acculturation which turned Asia Minor and its manifold social, economic and cultural patterns of into the known and oft defined Turkish Anatolia. The Principality of Menteshe, caught in a time of turmoil between the cosmopolitanism of the Mediterranean, the historical density of Asia Minor and its own nomadic traditions, is perhaps a good object of investigation.
