Grafito yazıt, yaklaşık MS V-VI. yy'a tarihlenmektedir.Dolayısıyla, MS II. yy'dan Geç Antik Çağ'a kadar gelenekselleşen ilaçların kullanılmaya devam ettiği ve Allianoi'un da bu yüzyıllarda halen sağlık amaçlı kullanıldığı ortaya koymaktadır.
Abstract
It has been understood from several medical tools and ancient sources found so far, Allianoi which we consider that it was located at the 18 km northeast of ancient Pergamon was an important health center in ancient world. Two pithoi with lids burried up to their shoulders have been found in the places numbered 8, at E XII plan-square which was used in Allianoi during the late antiquity. On one of the pithos' shoulders, there are 12 badge decoration and on the other pithos there is simple scratching line and there is an inscription of three rows in Greek language. There is no archaeological remnants in 108 cm ^ pithos. But the inscription on the soulder of the pithos shows that it contained 16-scales (about 52.5 litres) of oinment, which is thought to be Jewish oinment. The medicine consisted of seeds of Frankincense (olibanum) and onion. Ancient resources give little information about the medicine, especially the oinment applied to nose when bleeding and its named "Errhinon loudaikon". Finding the medicine in such a big pithos shows that the medicine was used widely in Allianoi. The inscription is dated back to the 5th and 6th century so this states that the traditional medicines had been used from 2th century to the late antiquity and eventually Allianoi was still used as a health center during this period.
