Abstract

The architectural survey that has been proceeding from 2010 onwards has brought about the characteristics and buildings of Larisa’s close neighborhood. A new picture has come out that reaches far beyond the acropolis area which was designed in late archaic period and re-shaped in the 4th century BC as shown by the 20th century studies. Within the living sphere of Larisa West; the fort and settlement of Larisa East, buildings and terraces of agriculture in the area between the eastern and western centers, and a large courtyard building on Koca Tepe on the level of Gediz Plain have been documented so far. The entire close-by areas were lavishly furnished with buildings of defense and agriculture. This picture most probably indicates a well-organized and ample construction activity initiated by the absolute rule that prevailed in Larisa during the course of 5th and 4th centuries BC
