Ksanthos'tan Klineli Bir Lahit Kapağı

Özet

Ksanthos'ta bulunmuş klineli bir lahit kapağı, bu çalışmanın konusunu oluşturmaktadır. Söz konusu kapağın buluntu yeri konusunda ne yazık ki herhangi bir bilgiye sahip değiliz; ancak kentin doğu ve kuzeydoğusundaki Roma Dönemi Nekropolü'nden çıkmış olması büyük bir olasılıktır. Beyaz mermerden yapılmış lahit kapağının sağ tarafı büyük ölçüde hasar görmüştür. Kline üzerindeki kadın ve erkek figürünün küçük bir bölümü ile metopta yer alan Triton ve Nereid figürü korunmuş durumdadır.Bu çalışmada, kapağın stilistik bir değerlendirmesinin yanı sıra, Triton ve Nereid figürlerinin lahitlerdeki kullanım amacına dair birtakım bulgular tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca kapağın tarihi konusunda da tahminlerde bulunulmuştur

Abstract

This paper examines a sarcophagus lid found in Xanthos. Unfortunately we don’t have any information about location of the sarcophagus lid. Possibly this lid came from necropolic eastern and north-east of the city of Roman period. The right side of the sarcophagus lid made of white marble has seen greatly damage. A small portion of the female and male figures which on the kline were preserved as well as Triton and Nereid figures which on the methop.Besides this study focuses on the reason why use of Triton and Nereid figures on the sarcophagus lid and stylistic evaluation of the sarcophagus lid. Also there have been predictions about date of the sarcophagus lid
