Abstract
Gastric xanthomas are rare lesions, generally ranging from 2 to 5 mm in dia meter and usually located in antrum and small curvature of stomach as single or multiple. Microscopically they are characterized by accumulation of lipidcontaining foamy histiocytes in the lamina propria. Gastric xanthoma should be kept in mind for pathologists in differential diagnosis of various types of gastric lesions especially diffuse signet-ring cell carcinoma. Recently, it was observed that a proportion of gastric xantomas were provoked by chronic gastritis and Helicobacter pylori. In this study, a case with gastric xanthoma is presented. Its association with chronic gastritis and Helicobacter pylori is discussed together with the knowledges of literature.
