Her iki gruba ait serumlarda toplam nitrik oksit miktarları diazotizasyon (Griess reaksiyon) yöntemi kullanılarak belirlendi. Kronik böbrek yetmezlikti gruba ait toplam nitrik oksit düzeyi, kontrol grubuna göre düşük bulundu (p

Abstract

The present study aims to determine the differences in the blood nitric oxide levels of cats in case of chronic renal failure. In the research, the number of male cats aging 8-12 years were made up 20 as ten of them the normal, healthy animals (control group) and the other ten those were unhealthy due to chronic renal failure. In order to define the cats with chronic renal failure, their blood and urine examinations were made to see any abnormalities in the number of erythrocytes in the amounts of serum urea, creatinine and urine total protein and also urine specific gravity. According to these measurements, the animals were accepted as unhealthy with chronic renal failure, which had higher amounts of serum urea and creatinine and lower values in the urine specific gravity and blood erythrocytes when compared to reference values of normal healthy cats. The total nitric oxide levels in the serum taken from two groups were measured by using diazotization method (Griess reaction). It is found that the mean of the total nitric oxide levels of cats with chronic renal failure were significantly decreased compared to that of the control group .()01).
