Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate some mechanical features such as absorption and compressive resistance of 4 permanent and 3 temporary luting cements. Evaluation of water absorption: Twenty samplesfor each cement species, total 140 samples, were prepared according to ADA specification. All samples in the shape of disc were kept in incubator at 37°C± 2°C for 24 hours and them they were weighed one by one with sensitive Sartorius scale with 10-4 sensitivity. The samples vere divided into four groups, and each of them vere stored in a different fluid medium, distilled water and artificial saliva at pH 3, pH 7, and pH 9, for seven days. The discs taken out of fluid mediums were dried with dry air and they vere weighed apain. Water absorption ratios of the samples vere computed. Compressive resistance test: Cement samples were prepared in the same amount and way mentioned above, but they were kept in distilled water and artificial saliva for 24 hours. Them compressive force was applied to them in Hounsfield test equipment. The data were evaluated by analysis of variance of. Type of cement and the difference of storage medium were found to be significant statistically.
