Özet

Sokrates’in hayatı hakikati söylemenin ne demek olduğuna ilişkin önemli bir ders barındırır. GeraldL.

Abstract

Life of Socrates contains an important lesson about what it means to tell the truth. In this respect Gerald L. Bruns presents an important hermeneutic interpretation in his book Hermeneutics Ancient and Modern. Bruns’ interpretation is unique with respect to both the roots of hermenutics in Ancient Greece and its evaluation of Socrates in a very different perspective. In this article first, the place where Bruns locates Socrates is reviewed, then his hermeneutic interpretation of Socrates’ autobiography presented in Apology is investigated. Accordingly understanding and expressing truth is a process of action, movement, endeavor and, as a whole, disclosure.
