Prognostic factors in Wilms tumors with favorable histology: A retrospective study of 19 cases

Özet

Bu çalışma, 1994-2000 yılları arasında hastanemizin Patoloji Anabilim Dalı'nda tanı almış uygun histolojiye sahip 19 Wilms tümör olgusunun yaşam sürelerini değişik prognostik faktörleri göz önüne alarak literatür ışığı altında irdelemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Olguların 14'ü erkek 5'i kız olup, ortalama yaş 42 aydı. Olgularımızın 2 (%10.52)'si evre I, 7 (%36,84)'si evre II, 5 (%26,31)'i evre III, 4 (%21,05)'ü evre IV ve l (%5.26)'i evre V olduğu saptandı. Tümör çaplan 6 ile 18 cm arasında değişmekteydi. Küçük boyutlu tümörlere sahip hastalar ile erken evredekilerin diğerlerine göre daha iyi prognoza sahip oldukları görüldü.

Abstract

In this study, the survival of 19 cases with Wilms tumors which were diagnosed in department of Pathology between 1994-2000 years and had favorable histology was analyzed according to different prognostic factors. 14 of the patients were boys and 4 were girls. For the whole group mean age was 42 months. Two of the cases (10.52%) were stage I, 7 (36,84%) were stage II, 5 (26,31%) were stage III, 4 (21,05%) were stage IV, and 1 (5.26%) was stage V. The diameter of the tumors changed from 6 to 18 cm. Patients with early stage or having small sized tumor had more favorable prognosis than the others.
