Abstract
Abstract: Ageing is a term that emerged early in the 21st century. The rapid development of industrial societies in the economic field, the increasing national income per capita, the increasing the welfare of the societies reinforced the ideas of people concerning longevity. In the comprehension of modern society, people live longer, the birth rate decreases so the rate of older population is increasing rationally and digitally in the today s world. Ageing is a process that is to be lived and is irreversible. Older people have been well respected in Turkish history until today due to the influence of Shamanism. Turkish society always helped and protected older people and protected them in special places as a duty throughout history. Older people were termed white beard, a knowing one, master adjectives employed in Turkish culture. Each language used different phrases about older people dependent upon their national culture. In this study, age-related phrases in Turkish are examined through scanning texts from the Orkhon Monuments, considered the first text written in the Turkish language, to today s texts for age-related phrases concerning the elderly.
