Abstract
This article presents a work of Prince Korkut, who wrote the most treatises amongst the members of the Ottoman dynasty, named the “Kitâbu Da’vetü’t-nefsi’t-tâlihâ ilâ a’mâli’s-sâlihâ biayâti’z-zâhire ve’l-beyyinâti’l-bâhire” and thereby to elucidate the thoughts of Prince Korkut concerning mysticism through the designation and analysis of both the concept of sufism and of the subjects that he addressed in this work. In the work of Prince Korkut, who wrote sufistic poems under the pseudonym “Harîmî,” and who is mostly underlined as being a member of the shafi communion and author of one of the first political treatise to be talked about; and that he had a grasp of most of the subjects concerning mysticism, both scientifically and spiritually, necessitate the examination of the work within the terms and context of mysticism. As a matter of fact, Dâvetü‟n-nefs, which is included in library records under the title of, Kitâbu’l-Hârimi fî’t-tasavvuf, has a justified importance, being the first Sufi prose work from the pen of an Ottoman prince. This article consists of three main sections; Prince Korkut‟s indications concerning the world of Sufism, the introduction to his work Dâvetü‟n-nefs, and the basics of Prince Korkut‟s thought concerning Sufism. On the one hand, the aim of this article is to show Prince Korkut's view of the Sufi world of the period, and, on the other, to make clear the Prince‟s Sufism.
