Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of thermal manipulations during early and late embryogenesis on various performance and feed consumption in broiler chickens. Incubation conditions were 37.5 oC and 55 % relative humidity for control group throughout the incubation period until the 19th days. In the thermally treated eggs during early embryogenesis, incubation temperature was increased to 41 oC and relative humidity to 65 % for 3 hours (12.00-15.00) on the 8th-10th days of incubation. Also, in the late embryogenesis stage incubation temperature was increased to 41 oC and relative humidity to 65 % for 3 hours (12.00-15.00) on the 16th-18th days of incubation. Total 200 eggs and 120 broiler chicks were used in each group. In point of total feed consumption, there was found significant difference among the groups, and feed consumption values were determined as 2765.29 g, 2859.38 g ve 2901.45 g for the control, early embryonic and late embryonic groups, respectively. In the same time, the differences among the groups were found significant in terms of feed efficiency values for second and third weeks. There were found significant differences among the groups in point of slaughter weight, carcass rate and wing rate.
