Abstract
In this analysis, the production efficiency of the milk and dairy production firms located in Elazığ, Malatya, Tunceli and Bingöl cities of TRB1 region were investigated. In this context, 64 licensed firms producing milk and dairy products in the region were surveyed to gather data for the year 2014 and 2015. For the model estimation, the Cobb Douglas production function was used in order to estimate Stochastic Production Frontier model. According to the test results, the average inefficiency ratio for the firms in the region is 0,10. %89 of the difference between the real production and the possible maximum production is explained with the technical and the allocation inefficiency problems and the rest is explained by the occasional and unexpected factors. The variables such as; the sector experience of the manager, the technology use of the firm, total employment, establishment date of the firm and the juridical status of the firm are found statistically significant in the model. On the other hand, the experience of the manager and the total employment in the firm have negative relations with the production inefficiency.
