Kerem ile Aslı hikayesinin halk hikayeleri motif yapısı bakımından Kerem operasıyla karşılaştırılması

Abstract

Many operas which received their themes from the folk tales were com- posed during the cultural revolution of the Turkish Republic period. These were the products of a revolutionary spirit which turned its face towards the cultural heritage of Anatolia. Kerem, the first grand national opera, is based on the folk tale Kerem and Aslı. Its composer is A. Adnan Saygun (1907-1991), its libret- tist is Selahattin Batu (1905 -1973). The objective of this study is to make a comparative motif analysis of the libretto of Kerem the opera with the folk tale Kerem and Aslı. The analysis is based on Ali Duymaz’s “A Comparative Research on Story of Kerem and Aslı” which is one of the most comprehensive work in its field.
