Özet

Katılımcı demokrasi düşüncesinin hayata geçirilmesinde rol oynayan başat aktörlerden birisi gençlerdir. Türkiye’de 2017 yılında gerçekleştirilen referandumla, seçilme yaşı yirmi beşten on sekize indirilerek gençlerin siyasal karar alma sürecine aktif katılmasına zemin hazırlanmıştır.

In the research, survey method, which is one of the quantitative research methods, was used as a data collection tool. Considering the data obtained as a result of the research, the first finding to be revealed is that the majority of the students declared that alliances constitute an important agenda in terms of written and visual media during the election period. In addition, the students stated that both written and visual media and social media were effective in promoting the discourse, candidates and projects of the parties in alliance. It is a remarkable finding that about 70 % of the young voters who participated in the research have knowledge about “electoral alliance of political parties and between which parties the alliances were held”. Another finding of the study is that “the ideology of the party” (40,7 %) is the most important factor for young people when they vote for a political party. When the effects of the factors that lead young people to vote in the elections are examined; It is noteworthy that the majority of students stated that they voted because it could be effective in the future of the country.
